Powerpoint Whine

I get six or seven Powerpoint files a day at work, and almost all of them are 3-8MB in size because somebody had to post one or three schnazzy graphics in them. Why is this a problem? We have very small mailboxes at work, and we can easily find ourselves in Email Jail if we fail to delete with great authority.

All of these files could have been 95% smaller if the creator just pasted the graphics as JPGs instead of Pictures. But most users don't know how to do this. So why doesn't Powerpoint do this for you? When you save, it could pop a message like "File size can be reduced from 8MB to 250KB by converting your graphics formats. Would you like Powerpoint to do this for you?"

Eh? Eh?
